Last week, due to a contract dispute, DIRECTV lost the rights to Cox-owned local stations, including ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC.
Specifically, 12 CMG stations in nine markets went dark on the operator’s DirecTV satellite service, its virtual MVPD DirecTV Stream, and U-Verse system, over the weekend.
But today, DirectTV announced that customers affected by this contract dispute will receive a one-time $10 credit.
The $10 credit is a gesture of goodwill from DirecTV, which said it is working to restore the Cox Media Group (CMG) stations as soon as possible.
DirecTV said this on their page:
“We apologize for this temporary inconvenience while we continue to work with CMG to reach a new agreement that aligns the value and quality customers receive with the price they pay.”
However, the credit is not automatic; customers must request it by contacting DirecTV customer service.
If you are a DIRECTV, U-Verse TV, and DIRECTV STREAM customer, you have to submit your refund request HERE.
Simply go to the above link, scroll down a bit and then you will see an input form that looks like the following image;
Here, enter your zip code and select which service you subscribe to.
After you find out if you qualify (you must have lost a local), follow the on-screen instructions properly to get the refund.
That’s what you need to do!
So, don’t procrastinate on claiming your $10 credit! Once the channels are back, the credits won’t be up for grabs anymore. Act fast to ensure you get what you’re owed!
However, DirecTV said it is committed to reaching a fair deal with CMG and bringing back the local stations as soon as possible.
It also urged its customers to contact CMG and ask them to restore the stations. DirecTV apologized for the inconvenience and thanked its customers for their patience and loyalty.
