In a move that promises to revolutionize internet connectivity and bring high-speed access to millions of Americans, Verizon has announced major expansion plans for its 5G networks.
The telecommunications giant is currently rolling out upgrades in almost 20 cities.
Earlier this year, Verizon upgraded 25 areas across the US, but this time It plans to use different types of 5G technology, including C-Band spectrum and 5G Ultra Wideband.
It has already invested billions of dollars in its high-speed network and plans to invest another $10 billion over the next three years.
Dean Brauer, Vice President of Engineering and Operations for Verizon, says;
“Our network engineers work tirelessly to provide unmatched connectivity to our customers across Huntington, Morgantown, Fairmont, and Bridgeport and beyond, and we will not slow down.”
With these new upgrades, Verizon hopes to connect even more people – especially those living in rural areas where connections can often be spotty. By 2024, they aim to cover over 250 million people with their powerful mid-band 5G technology.
Cities where you might notice faster internet speeds:
- Columbus, NE
- Cozad, NE
- Des Moines, IA
- Durham, NC
- Flint, MI
- Grand Island, NE
- Hastings, NE
- Indianapolis, IN
- Lansing, MI
- Los Angeles, CA
- Miami, FL
- Nickerson, NE
- North Platte, NE
- Palm Bay, FL
- Phoenix, AZ
- Raleigh, NC
- Rockford, IL
- Spalding, NE
- Syracuse, NY
- Tilden, NE
This will be a game-changer, I think for many people across the US, which will provide faster and more reliable service to rural areas and expand coverage to more than 175 million people.
With this expansion, Verizon is set to become one of the leading providers of 5G services in the country.
